Is Your Bank Account Lying to You? 🤥

“I have $10,000 in the bank, so I’m doing great!”

…is a sentence that has preceded many business heartbreaks. 💔

The problem is the “Timing Gap.” In accounting, we solve this by choosing between two methods: Cash and Accrual.

💰 Cash Basis: You record things when money moves. It’s easy to track, but it’s a “delayed” reality. You might look profitable today simply because you haven’t paid your rent yet.

📈 Accrual Basis: You record things when they happen. If you did the work in March, it counts as March income—even if the client doesn’t pay until May. This is how you see the true health of your business operations.

Why does this matter in 2026? If you’re trying to get a loan, sell your business, or just scale up, you need to understand your Accrual numbers. Otherwise, you’re just tracking your bank balance, not your business performance.

Are you confused by your Profit & Loss statement? It might just be a settings issue. Let’s look at your books together and decide which method will give you the clearest picture for growth.
